Partner module setup

In your app's partner setup you can activate Adjust integrations with self-attributing partners or enable automated partner postbacks for your attributions and in-app data. 

An automated partner postback is a standard set of data points that Adjust automatically sends to an ad network or an ad analytics provider, on your behalf. Automated postbacks allow your preferred partners to receive consistently formatted information about your mobile app campaigns that they can then use for ad optimization or measuring ad performance. Adjust can send automated partner postbacks for your app's installs, reattributions, in-app sessions, and in-app events.

Any ad network with an automated partner postback module has the capacity to receive all of your Adjust install and in-app data. However, Adjust will only share attribution details with the partner credited for the attribution. This means that while "Partner X" will know that another partner drove an install, it won't know the other partner name or campaign details responsible for said install.

If you do not want to disclose all of your Adjust-reported installs to your partner, slide the Attributions Only toggle to ON. Once enabled, Adjust will only send the partner their credited attributions and in-app data (if events are linked). Set up an automated postback module in Adjust

Every automated postback module in Adjust is platform-specific. Remember to set up postbacks for each applicable mobile OS by selecting the platform icon, located at the top of the module. By default, modules only send install postbacks. If you'd like to share event data, revenue event information, or even custom app data with your partner, be sure to check out the extended setup instructions and how to enable event linking within the automated postback module.

Activate an automated install postback

Instructions

In the Adjust dashboard

  1. Navigate to your apps and select your app options caret (^)
  2. Select Partner Setup
  3. Select ADD PARTNERS
  4. Type in the name of your partner in the search field or scroll through the full list of partners to locate your preferred network. Then, make your selection by selecting the add (plus) icon. 
  5. Every partner requires authentication. Insert the partner's unique identifier(s) in the respective field(s). If you are ever unsure of a value, reach out to the partner's representative for assistance. 
  6. Optional: Some ad networks allow you to only send attributed installs to their server endpoints—this prevents them from receiving installs that their platform did not generate. If you do not want to share every install with your network partner, slide the Attributed Only toggle to ON. If this is not currently supported by your partner, please reach out to support@adjust.com for assistance.
  7. When you are finished with your setup, select SAVE

Once activated, Adjust will immediately begin to forward install data to your partner. 

Extended Setup (Optional)

If you want to send additional details to your partner, proceed as follows.

Note: Data forwarding is partner-specific, i.e., not every partner supports the same data forwarding options. If you find that an option is unavailable for your partner, please reach out to support@adjust.com 

  1. To forward all in-app sessions to a partner, slide the Session Forwarding toggle to ON
  2. To forward all in-app revenue to a partner, slide the Revenue Forwarding toggle to ON
  3. To forward custom app data to a partner, slide the Parameter Forwarding toggle to ON. Then, select Partner Parameter Mapping below the toggle.*
  4. In the FROM APP field, enter your partner parameter, as it was written into the Adjust SDK
  5. In the TO PARTNER field, enter the corresponding partner-defined name
  6. When you are finished with your setup, select SAVE

*Partner parameters enable Adjust to collect and forward custom app data to third parties. All partner parameters must be configured within the Adjust SDK. (Developer instructions for iOS and Android.) 

Notes:

  • If a partner parameter is entered in the FROM APP field but not the TO PARTNER field, this parameter will not be sent to the partner
  • If you have configured a partner parameter in the Adjust SDK but not included it in the Partner Parameter Mapping module, it will be sent as named in the Adjust SDK
  • Before adding a new partner parameter to your SDK, ensure a pre-existing one does not already fit the requirements. If you are unsure, contact support@adjust.com.

Enable event linking within the automated postback module

Event linking allows Adjust to forward in-app event data (e.g., sign-ups, registrations, adds to cart) directly to your preferred ad network or analytics provider. Event linking can be very useful if you are running a cost-per-action (CPA) campaign or using in-app activity to measure user value. Event linking is only possible if you are tracking in-app events with Adjust. If you are currently tracking in-app events with a partner's SDK, then you do not need to forward event data from Adjust to said partner—this will result in duplicated event reporting within your partner's platform.

In the Adjust dashboard

  1. Activate an automated install postback
  2. Select the Event Linking section 
  3. Identify the Adjust event that you would like to link, then enter the corresponding partner's event name. In some instances, this may be a drop-down menu of the partner's default events. In other cases, you may enter a custom event name. 
  4. When you are finished with your setup, select SAVE

Once activated, Adjust will immediately begin to forward event data to your partner.
