Track ad spend with TikTok For Business

Adjust's integration with TikTok lets you easily connect your account and view your aggregated ad spend data in the dashboard.

Before you begin

Here's what you need to know before getting started.

  • Business Pro pricing plan or higher
  • Users with Admin, Editor, and Custom Editor permissions can create accounts in the Adjust Dashboard. Editors and Custom Editors can only view the accounts they create.

  • Your TikTok For Business login credentials

Set up TikTok ad spend tracking

There are just a few steps to start tracking ad spend with TikTok. First, ensure your tracker URLs use the correct campaign structure to match and display ad spend data in Adjust. This will depend upon whether you are new to working with TikTok or already track campaigns with them. Then, connect your TikTok For Business and Adjust accounts.

If you already track TikTok campaigns with Adjust

If you already run TikTok For Business campaigns and track them with Adjust, you will need to update your campaign structure to access ad spend data. This lets Adjust receive the correct Campaign_ID to match and display ad spend data in the dashboard.

Unfortunately, due to a network-side limitation, there is no way to update tracker URLs for existing campaigns. This means you will need to create new campaigns that use the updated trackers.

Adjust recommends all accounts to transition to this new structure, however it is only a requirement for ad spend reporting. Adjust will continue to track your existing campaigns that do not use the new campaign structure.

The former tracker structure:

  • Campaign = __CAMPAIGN_NAME__%26__CAMPAIGN_ID__
  • Adgroup = __AID_NAME__%26__AID__-__PLACEMENT__
  • Creative = __CID_NAME__%26__CID__

The updated tracker structure:

  • Campaign = __CAMPAIGN_NAME__%20(__CAMPAIGN_ID__)
  • Adgroup = __AID_NAME__%20(__AID__)
  • Creative = __CID_NAME__%20(__CID__)

Placement information can be collected using the {dcp_tiktok_placement} placeholder and is not part of the tracker structure in Adjust anymore.

Update your tracker structure using the unlink-relink method

The easiest way to update your tracker structure is to unlink it from TikTok, then relink it. Follow these steps.

  1. Find your app and select your app options caret (^).
  2. Select Tracker URLs.
  3. Select Settings (gear icon) next to your TikTok tracker.
  4. Select EDIT.
  5. Use the dropdown menu to change the Network selection to --none--.
  6. Click SAVE.

Your tracker is now unlinked from TikTok. To relink your tracker, repeat steps 1 - 4. At step 5 change the Network field to TikTok For Business.

Great job! You can now use any new Adjust tracker URL to start a campaign in TikTok For Business.
