App-level attribution settings
In Adjust, you can set custom attribution settings (for device matching and fingerprinting) at both the app level and tracker level. Here, you'll learn how to turn on (or off) click-based attribution, impression-based attribution, and reattribution in your Adjust settings.

Set up IMEI and MEID device matching for attribution

To turn on IMEI and MEID attribution for your account, please reach out to Adjust. IMEI and MEID attribution is only available in China and should not be used for apps published in the Google Play store. If you’re unsure about the privacy standards for your area, do not turn on this feature.

You'll need to set up IMEI and MEID attribution in the Adjust dashboard (as an admin user) and make updates to your Adjust SDK.

To set up IMEI and MEID device matching for attribution, follow these steps.

  1. Find your app and select the app options caret (^)
  2. Select All Settings > Attribution
  3. Select the IMEI Attribution caret
  4. If this is the first time you've accessed IMEI attribution settings for your app, please read and accept our IMEI and MEID attribution Terms and Conditions (T&Cs), when prompted
  5. Turn on IMEI Attribution
  6. Select SAVE

Now that you've turned on IMEI and MEID attribution in the dashboard, continue setup in the Adjust SDK.

IMEI and MEID attribution requires core SDK 4.16.0 (or higher) and an IMEI plugin. See full developer instructions

Well done! Adjust will use IMEI and MEID device matching for attribution across all of your Android campaigns.

Click-based attribution settings

Adjust supports two types of click-based attribution: device matching and fingerprinting. Click-based device matching is always on. You can turn on click-based fingerprinting anytime.

To change your click-based fingerprinting settings, follow these steps.
  1. Find your app and select the app options caret (^)
  2. Select All Settings > Attribution > Click Based Fingerprinting
  3. Turn on (or turn off) Device fingerprinting for clicks
  4. If you have a Business Pro or higher pricing plan, you can set an attribution window (the default is 6 hours)
  5. Select SAVE
Your new attribution window takes effect after you save your settings. To avoid data discrepancies in Adjust, we recommend setting the same attribution windows across all of your app platforms and ad network partners.

Impression-based attribution settings

Adjust supports two types of impression-based attribution: device matching and fingerprinting.

Note: Impression-based install tracking is available with a Business Pro (or higher) pricing plan.

To change your impression-based attribution settings, follow these steps.
  1. Find your app and select the app options caret (^)
  2. Select All Settings > Attribution > Impression Based Device Matching or Impression Based Fingerprinting
  3. Turn on (or turn off) Device matching for impressions or Device fingerprinting for impressions
  4. If you have a Business Pro or higher pricing plan, you can set an attribution window (the default is 24 hours for device matching or 6 hours for fingerprinting)
  5. Select SAVE
Your new attribution window takes effect after you save your settings. To avoid data discrepancies in Adjust, we recommend setting the same attribution windows across all of your app platforms and ad network partners.

Reattribution settings

Adjust can reattribute inactive users who return to your app through a retargeting campaign. You can turn on click-based and/or impression-based reattribution anytime.

When you turn on reattribution tracking, you'll need to choose an inactivity period (how long the user must be away from your app) and a reattribution window (how long a click or impression is eligible for reattribution).

To change your reattribution settings, follow these steps.
  1. Find your app and select the app options caret (^)
  2. Select All Settings > Attribution Click Based Reattribution or Impression Based Reattribution
  3. Turn on (or turn off) Enable
  4. Select your inactivity period (the default is 7 days) and reattribution window (the default is 7 days for clicks or 1 day for impressions)
