QR code campaigns
Measuring QR code campaigns with Adjust is straightforward and helps you leverage the full power of attribution across all of your marketing channels. Use QR codes to make advertisements directly actionable for end users, from out-of-home offline advertising to TV commercials.
Before you begin
Here's what you need to know before getting started.
Requirements
- QR codes are available for click links and connected TV links.
How it works
The QR code operates in just the same way as any other ad your users see. A device’s camera reads the QR code like a URL: every time a QR code is scanned and read, it works like a regular link or connected TV link in the device’s default browser.
After a user scans the QR code, Adjust records this as a click, and reports it under the link name. You can then filter your data like other networks.
Use cases
QR codes are a familiar sight and increasingly used in a range of settings, from advertising to online ordering, payments, and more.
Here are a few ways that QR codes can be used in different marketing strategies across verticals.
Customize QR codes
The QR code customization feature is in Early Access. Contact your Adjust representative or support@adjust.com to confirm eligibility.
The QR code customization allows you to customize different aspects like color, background, size, shape, margins etc. and embed logos or additional text to the QR codes. This ensures the QR code designs are aligned with your company's branding, the experience is seamless and consistent, no matter where you use the QR codes or Adjust TrueLinks.
You can also save your QR code designs as a template, allowing you to scalably reuse QR code styles without needing to design them from scratch.
Setting QR code styles at an app-level
You can set a QR code style at an app level which ensures that this will be the starting point for any QR codes you create for the specific app. You can override the app-level style at a link-level.
- Under AppView, select All apps.
- Select your app.
- Select the App information tab.
- Under QR code style, you can either go with default QR code style (Black and white design without any custom styling) or choose to apply a Custom style
- In the Custom Style configurator, you can specify the design aspects (Corner style and color, Dot Style and color, Background color, Logo embed, Background image, Size and margin, Additional Text label etc.)
- Use the preview section to check how the QR code style looks like
- Select Apply to save the App-level custom style
- Now, any QR codes you create for this app will have this style as the default starting point. You can choose to override the app-level QR code style by setting a link-level custom QR code style
Setting QR code styles at a link-level
You can override any app-level default QR code styles at a link-level. While creating any Custom Links or Deep Links, you can configure the QR code styles in the `Social & QR' step.
- Under QR code style, you can either go with default QR code style (App-level default style) or choose to apply a Custom style
- In the Custom Style configurator, you can specify the design aspects (Corner style and color, Dot Style and color, Background color, Logo embed, Background image, Size and margin, Additional Text label etc.)
- Use the preview section to check how the QR code style looks like
- Select Apply to save the Link-level custom style
QR code templates
You can also save QR code styles as templates and reuse them for different campaigns instead of creating them from scratch
You can start from a template, save them, delete them as needed. All QR code templates are accessible to all users across the entire Adjust account for easier reuse across campaigns
Configuring the QR code style
When you choose to apply a custom style, the custom style configurator opens up where you can specify the design aspects of the QR code style.
- QR code style : You can specify the corner style and color, Dot style and color, and background color
- Logo : You can choose to have no logo embeds, embed the default app icon, or embed any other custom image by specifying an image URL
- Background Image : You can choose to embed a background image by specifying an image URL, and configure the transparency
- Size and Margin : You can choose the size (width * height) and margin in pixels.
- Label : By default the QR code has no additional text below it, but you can choose to add either the short link, link token or any custom label
- File Formats : Once the QR code has been generated, you can choose to download it as either an SVG or a PNG from the Link URLs section under the QR code tile.
Best practices
- QR codes can be customized with different colors, logos, margins etc. This may impact the camera's ability to interpret the QR code being scanned. Please test on different devices and at different distances to ensure that the QR code can actually resolve to the correct link.
- Short links are recommended as they have a smaller, simpler QR code pattern, which is easier and faster to scan. If a short URL is created, it is automatically used by default behind the QR code
- It is recommended to include the short URL as a Label below the QR code, so that anyone who is unable to scane it can enter the short link in the browser URL bar to load the page.
